“CLOCK TIME” NO LONGER VALID HERE

Dear The Last Time,

It may be the last time, I don't know.  But, it is your song of the day.  Tangentially, there is this song, and this article.

periwinkle & amethyst

Dear Y'all,

Yes, I did quit my job, but there are still 17 weeks to go, and so I apply myself to the study of color as might be interesting to Others.  I like to mention the dubious Color of The Year, as defined by Pantone and its think tank of bankers.  Well, I don't know if they are bankers, they could be any number of things; it says here they 'observe' the color globally, in the months before.  Anyway, it's periwinkle this year, and so I want to send you to this lovely meditation on vinca, pigment history, poison, art history, and color.

I also want to give you the song of the day:  Love Will Tear Us Apart, in a beautiful cover by Amythyst Kiah.

A coruscating breakfast fit for a Unicorn.

Dear Morning,

Remember when I said I'd gotten the spangliest sparklepony gift to beat all spangly sparklepony gifts?  As a holiday gift from a dear friend, I received Sparkle Syrup and Confetti Pancake Mix!  When someone gives you a thing like this, you really are overwhelmed by the joy and love of it.  (I know, and I do feel a little guilty about how lucky I am!  It's a feeling like a secret, a little bit prickly, and also, a bit vertiginous, because, what if my luck runs out??!)  After four lovely weeks of admiring and shaking the bottle, today was the day to pop the cork and mix the cakes!

Over & over.

Dear Camera,

Every time I see this building, I take the same photograph of it; at least, I think I do.  It was a kind of shock to me, once, when I found that I had bought essentially the same color of lipstick over and over across the years and types.  At first, I thought this was a mistake on my part, and I tired to buy some colors that weren't the same color, but, it was harder than I thought, and the colors that strayed markedly didn't look good on, so, there you are!  If a photograph is good to take once, it's good a thousand times!

This is not the photo I take over and over, and you can see why I don't, can't you?  It isn't worth taking a second time.  Anyway, I want to get this building into my possession, so I can turn it into a roller skating rink that serves espresso!  I know, won't it be great?  All these caffeinated folks with wheels on their shoes!?

Dear Listener,

Here is your song for today.  And that goes double from me:  I got you.

first day improvements

Rebecca Louise Law, Dahlia Line, 2014.

Dear New Year and Self-Awareness,

I had some fine goals, some noble goals:  Practice kindness, practice patience, work on Improving Myself.  The whole enterprise feels old and tired.  Today I have a better idea: cross off all the self-improvement rot.  I resolve to buy more hats, quit my job, and visit Mexico.

Yes, that feels a lot better.
